Check your tires
Once every month, check your tires for wear and damage problems.
Get a penny and follow 3 easy steps.
1. Hold Abe's body between your thumb and forefinger.
2. Select a point on your tire where tread appears the lowest and place
Lincoln's head into one of the grooves.
3. If any part of Abe Lincoln's head is covered by the tread, you have a safe amount of tread.
If your tread gets below that (about 2/32 of an inch),
your car's ability to grip the road
in adverse conditions is greatly reduced.
Over-inflated tires ride roughly and wear prematurely at the center of their tread.
Under-inflated tires wear prematurely, and can overheat and fail at highway speeds.

Check your vehicle’s tire pressures (including the spare) at least once a month.

For the most accurate reading,
check tire pressures when the tires are cold.
Follow the inflation pressure recommendations in your vehicle owner’s manual
or on the
tire information label located in the glove box or on the driver’s door jamb.
Do not use the inflation pressure molded into the tire sidewall, it may or may not be the correct pressure for your particular car.

Please note that while this is intended to outline general guidelines and considerations for checking tires, it is not all-inclusive.
IMPORTANT: ALWAYS refer to and follow the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations.
